Agri-PV in Open Field Nectarine Cultivation
Project Overview
This project involves the installation of an agrivoltaic system over a nectarine orchard in the region of Agros, Cyprus. Situated at an altitude of 800 meters, the project integrates renewable energy generation with fruit production using specialized solar technology.
Implementation and Technology
The installation consists of 148 Brite Solar panels in total. The panels used for this project are the BSG-300_54-F models, which feature a 54% transparency rate.
The project is separated into three distinct installations:
- Installation 1: 10.2 kWp
- Installation 2: 10.2 kWp
- Installation 3: 20.4 kWp
By placing the panels directly above the open-field cultivation, the system provides a dual-use land solution, allowing the agricultural activity to continue at a high elevation while producing electricity.
Brite Solar Nanocoating Technology
In the case of Brite Solar, the technology is based on nanocoating designed for agricultural applications and patented by the company. The operating principle is the conversion of UV radiation in the red spectrum, where photosynthesis takes place. This optimizes the quality of light reaching the plants, while also generating energy. The transparency of the panels is defined on a project-by-project basis, depending on the crop and the climatic conditions of the area, so that the solution is practical and not a "one size fits all" approach.
European Manufacturing and Quality
Brite Solar is a Greek nanotechnology company with a production base in Patras, where it operates its factory for the manufacture of transparent Agri-PV panels. Producing in Europe leads to better quality control. It also provides more direct technical support and faster delivery for projects in the European market. The technology is specially designed for agricultural use.
